What to expect

Before and during your massage therapy

Before the first session, clients must fill out an intake form (provided during your first consultation) and bring a sports bra or tank top with  shorts or a swimsuit if you wish to receive a complimentary full postural assessment. The first consultation will determine the indications and contraindications for the massage, areas to treat and/or avoid, as well as develop a complete personalized treatment plan. This is the perfect time to express any concerns and disclose any current aches and pains, allergies, past surgeries or conditions in order to receive the best, most effective and appropriate therapeutic treatment. Any new or changing health conditions must be disclosed prior to each treatment. During each massage, clients are responsible for communicating any discomfort and/or preferred level of pressure and areas of massage for their safety and comfort.

After each treatment, be careful when getting off the table and hydrate yourself with water to flush out toxins and avoid soreness. Avoid consuming alcohol the same day of the massage. Tell your therapist if you feel lightheaded or uncomfortable. Additionally, your therapist may recommend personal home care or other related therapeutic care. Clients are strongly encouraged to actively participate in their treatment plan to obtain the best possible health and wellness outcome.

Ashiatsu Columbia LLC is dedicated to maintain a professional environment for each client and strive to provide the highest level of care. Similarly, every client is expected to do their part in order to maintain an ethical rapport with their therapist. Clients are expected to shower prior to each massage and come prepared to undress to their comfort level (all jewelry accessories removed). Every client will be draped appropriately and care will be made to cover breasts and genitals at all time. Clients must not harass, imply, display or request any inappropriate acts or services from the therapist, and such behavior will result in immediate termination of the massage and full remuneration for the session.

Clients are responsible to come to their session on time to benefit from the full time allocated to them for the massage. Late clients or clients taking longer time to dress/undress may not receive their full hands-on time.

Massage Benefits

Today's busy life, along with its constant stress and pressures can negatively impact your quality of life. Our body's regulation system is disrupted, fatigue and muscle tension creep in and our mind struggles with restlessness, As a result, it becomes difficult to relax and let go of our deep-seated worried and anxieties inhibiting the joy of the present moment and the gift of life itself.

Professional massages have been proven to relieve these detrimental patterns by:

  • Relieving muscle tension
  • Improving circulation
  • Increasing mobility
  • Detoxifying the muscular and lymphatic systems

While we recommend a weekly therapeutic massage for maximum relaxation and health benefits, any regular therapeutic massage schedule is worth the investment to better your well-being.
